Every year in Germany, Europe's largest cosmetics market, CosmeticBusiness exclusively brings together cosmetics companies with all suppliers engaged in the research, production, packaging, and marketing of the whole cosmetics product portfolio. The exhibition houses areas to facilitate discussions about the ingredients used to manufacture cosmetics, packaging, and services presently offered. Over 320 suppliers were housed in booths in 11000+ m2 of exhibition space, where 100+ products were presented. Cellugy’s booth was housed in the Innovation Corner, where one could experience the concentrated innovative power of the cosmetics supply industry.
Thanks to being part of the Innovation Corner, a lot of visitors got the opportunity to interact with our team and got to know about our product EcoFlexy personally.
“By providing hands-on access to our demonstration samples (EcoFLEXY in its pure form as well as in formulations), attendees quickly grasp the potential of our product. This advantage is particularly significant in the personal care industry, where the visual and tactile qualities of a product hold great importance.” Alixander Perzon, Material Scientist
The editorial team at CosmeticBusiness also interviewed Cellugy under their MEET THE START-UP series which is the newest addition to the exhibition starting this year. You can read the full interview here
With over 320 suppliers hosting participants at the exhibition, the team at Cellugy had the novel opportunity to receive feedback from the customer directly. Visitors were able to test EcoFLEXY on their own skin and get more in-depth information about the innovative process behind it. The team was also open to co-development projects given the versatility of our ingredients, so we hope to engage with key stakeholders in the personal care industry to accelerate the development of biofabricated cellulose-based ingredients.
“Microbial cellulose is heat stable and forms a nearly undestroyable 3D network ready to work in formulations even with high salinity and in a wide pH range. It converts very fast from liquid to solid with its thixotropic effect. The microbial cellulose gel is sprayable and our powder is re-dispersable easily” Volker Wagner-Solbach, Business Developer
Among the suppliers presenting at the exhibition, we were chosen to be part of the Innovation Corner. We believe this is because of the versatility of our product and the unique process behind manufacturing it. We are on a mission to unleash the potential of biofabricated cellulose. The most prevalent polymer on earth is cellulose, and we drew inspiration from nature's processes to create a flexible and sustainable ingredient for the personal care sector.
“It has been an exhilarating experience for me to engage in discussions with seasoned experts in various fields, such as sunscreen and paint applications” Alixander Perzon, Material Scientist
Our flagship product, EcoFLEXY, is 100 per cent biobased, free of volatile organic compounds, biodegradable, and microplastics free. EcoFLEXY is also biodegradable by design, and heat resistant to over 100 degrees Celsius. Its versatility makes it easy to use in challenging formulations and can be tailored to anyone’s performance needs to create clean and safe products.
“Cosmetic Business was a great platform for us to start understanding the German market and getting face-to-face with direct customers and distributors. As always, we got great feedback from visitors at the booth while trying the product and we see many potential synergies originating from our interactions with them” Clara Capparelli, Customer Engagement Coordinator
We look forward to collaborating and unleashing the potential of bio-fabricated cellulose together to make the personal care and cosmetic industry more sustainable!
"CosmeticBusiness München was another huge success for Cellugy! Thanks to all for passing by our booth to find even some very new potential claims for microbial cellulose together!"
